Is the Antminer L9 profitable?

Bitmain's mainstream current Scrypt machine, shipped in 16 GH/s and 17 GH/s bins (approx. manufacturer specs). At roughly 0.21 J/MH it is the benchmark of the installed fleet — though the newer L11 line (0.17–0.18 J/MH on this site's own table) has passed it on efficiency — and a large share of fleet value rides on how its economics carry through the Litecoin halving at block 3,360,000, when the subsidy drops to 3.125 LTC.

The only honest answer is a live one: revenue moves with LTC and DOGE prices and network hashrate every day. An L9 that holds its bin spec pays for its efficiency edge twice — lower power bills now, and a longer runway past the 2027 halving than anything in the L7 class. The break-even electricity figure is the line — pay less per kWh than that and the machine earns, pay more and it burns.

Why both coins count

Every serious Scrypt profitability number counts both reward streams. Through AuxPoW merged mining, the same hashes earn full Litecoin and full Dogecoin block rewards on one power bill — LTC-only math understates Antminer L9 revenue by the entire DOGE share. The mechanics are on our LTC+DOGE merged mining calculator, which this page's math mirrors exactly.

FAQ

Does the Antminer L9 mine LTC and DOGE at the same time?
Yes — Scrypt machines merge-mine. The same proof of work is submitted to both chains, earning full rewards on each. Most major LTC pools credit DOGE automatically alongside LTC.
What does the revenue figure exclude?
Transaction fees on both chains (small next to subsidies, so figures are slightly conservative), cooling power, and difficulty drift. The 2027 Litecoin halving is a scheduled cut, not drift — the payback tile flags it when your horizon crosses it.
