TrumPOW Mining Difficulty
What is difficulty?
Difficulty is a single network-wide number that sets how much computational work it takes to find a valid TrumPOW block: the higher it is, the more scrypt hashes must be tried, on average, before one lands. It exists so that however much parent-pool work points at this chain, blocks keep arriving roughly every 60 seconds.
The headline reading — 8.67 M as of 2026-10-03 — is the raw difficulty scaled for display, M = million (×10⁶). It is a ratio against the minimum difficulty of the chain’s first block: that many times harder to mine than at genesis.
How DigiShield recalculates it — every block
Bitcoin and Litecoin adjust in 2,016-block epochs, a scheduled cliff every ~2 weeks or ~3.5 days. TrumPOW’s Dogecoin-1.14-class codebase dropped epochs for DigiShield: it retargets every block (DigiShield, Dogecoin-1.14 class) — at each new block, nodes compare recent arrival pace against the 60-second target and nudge difficulty, damping every step. The value drifts continuously instead of jumping, which is why this page carries no epoch progress bar and no next-adjustment date: the next adjustment is always about a minute away.
DigiShield exists to resist hashrate whiplash, and TRMP is the purest case on our board: carriage is effectively one roster — F2Pool signed 94% of the blocks our node attributed over the archive’s first day — so work arrives and leaves in the largest possible steps. Per-block retargeting closes within minutes the window an epoch chain would leave open.
The pressure gauge: e_hafeer, recipe included
The “Difficulty pressure” tile is e_hafeer, a signed [−1, +1] reading of recent block pace. +1 means blocks are running far slower than target, so difficulty pressure is easing — a tailwind for the machines already here; −1 means far faster, pressure building — the same machines are about to earn proportionally less. As of 2026-10-03 it read +0.014. The receipt is the recipe itself, served inside every API response and quoted here verbatim:
One display convention is ours, not the recipe’s, so we state it: the tile colors the reading only beyond ±0.005 — green above +0.005 (pressure easing), amber below −0.005 (pressure building), neutral in the band between. With the formula above and the raw feed, every pixel of that coloring is checkable.
Merged mining and difficulty
Each chain computes its own difficulty — Litecoin in 2,016-block epochs, TrumPOW every block — but the hashrate feeding both is largely the same scrypt work, routed by merge rosters. When the roster carrying TRMP re-weights, this page shows it within minutes: blocks run fast, e_hafeer swings negative, difficulty climbs to meet the new work.
Two claims we deliberately do not make. No fixed TRMP-to-LTC difficulty ratio: that shortcut assumes the whole Litecoin fleet merge-mines TRMP, and our attribution measured the opposite — one roster dominates. And no difficulty story about the halving: block 600,000 stepped the subsidy from 31,250 to 15,625 TRMP and left difficulty untouched — halvings change what a block pays, never how hard it is to find. We say so rather than guess.
Why it matters for miners
Your revenue is your share of the network, so a sustained +3% rise in difficulty cuts revenue per MH/s by about 2.9% (1 − 1/1.03). On TRMP that arrives as a drift, not a cliff — per-MH/s earnings erode or recover block by block instead of stepping every epoch. And because TRMP reaches scrypt miners as a kicker on LTC payouts — F2Pool above all, on our measured attribution — this chain’s difficulty moves the bonus layer of a rig’s income, stacked on top of the LTC side rather than replacing it. F2Pool is the one verified major payer — its parent coinbases signed 94% of the 1,177 TRMP blocks our node attributed over the archive’s first day, with Mining-Dutch and Binance Pool tags covering most of the rest.
FAQ
- Why does TrumPOW difficulty change every block?
- TrumPOW retargets every block (DigiShield, Dogecoin-1.14 class) — the rule its Pepecoin-template, Dogecoin-1.14 lineage carries. Instead of waiting out a 2,016-block epoch like Bitcoin or Litecoin, every new block triggers a recalculation against the 60-second target, damped so one lucky or unlucky block only nudges the value. The next adjustment is always about a minute away.
- Does TrumPOW have halvings?
- Yes, and this chain’s schedule is one we verified twice: in the node source (GetTrumpowBlockSubsidy plus chainparams, checked 2026-10-02) and in the coinbases our archive holds — blocks 1 through 99,999 each paid 1,000,000 TRMP and block 100,000 stepped to exactly 500,000. The subsidy halves every 100,000 blocks; block 600,000, crossed in early October 2026, was the sixth halving, stepping the reward from 31,250 to 15,625 TRMP, and a constant 10,000-TRMP tail begins at block 700,000.
- Is TRMP harder to mine than LTC or DOGE?
- The difficulty numbers cannot be compared — each chain’s difficulty is a ratio against its own genesis minimum, and the chains run different block targets. In practice the question dissolves: through AuxPoW the same scrypt machines mine LTC, DOGE and TRMP at once, so nobody chooses between them — a pool roster chooses which kickers ride along, and on TRMP essentially one roster does.
- What is e_hafeer?
- A pressure gauge computed from recent block pace: g is derived from elapsed time versus target and E = (g² − 2) / (πg), clamped to [−1, +1] — positive means blocks are running slower than target (difficulty pressure easing), negative means faster (pressure building). The full recipe, constants included, is published in the API response at basintwo.com/api/chain/trmp.
