Dogmcoin Mining Difficulty

Difficulty History
No public Dogmcoin difficulty history series exists anywhere, and we don't draw charts from data we don't have. BasinTwo's archiver has been banking DOGM blocks since 2026-10-02 (7 days banked as of 2026-10-09), replaying the chain in order while our node synced — on 2026-10-09 the replay had reached block 2,887,807 and was still working toward the tip. This chart draws itself the day our archive serves the series.

What is difficulty?

Difficulty is a single network-wide number that sets how much computational work it takes to find a valid Dogmcoin block. The higher it is, the more scrypt hashes — on average — must be tried before a block lands. It exists so that no matter how much work is pointed at this chain, blocks keep arriving roughly every 60 seconds.

The headline reading (e.g. "52,109") is the raw difficulty as a plain ratio against the chain's minimum difficulty. Dogmcoin's ledger is Dogecoin's own up to block 4,253,399; at block 4,253,400 (2022-06-05) our node sees difficulty fall from 7.75 million to the minimum and Dogmcoin's own history begin. So this number counts how much harder a block is than at that restart, not than at a 2013 genesis.

How DigiShield recalculates it — every block

new_difficulty = old_difficulty × (target_timespan ÷ damped_actual_timespan)
· recomputed at EVERY block — a ~1-minute cadence on this chain (DigiShield)
· damping tempers each step, so one fast or slow block only nudges the value

Bitcoin and Litecoin adjust in 2,016-block epochs, so their miners face a scheduled adjustment cliff every ~2 weeks (BTC) or ~3.5 days (LTC). Dogmcoin retargets every block (DigiShield, Dogecoin-1.14 class) — unsurprising for a fork of Dogecoin 1.14.7, which is what our node reports itself as (/DogmcoinCore:1.14.7.1/). There is no epoch progress bar and no next-adjustment date on this page, because the next adjustment is always about a minute away.

DigiShield earned its place on exactly this chain's 2026-10-08. Daily samples from our node read 29 to 106 through 2026-10-07; block 6,243,992 (06:42 UTC) was the first past 1,000; block 6,244,022, twelve minutes later, read about 8,800; by mid-morning it was past 22,000, and it has sat near 52,000 since. A 2,016-block epoch chain would have taken weeks to answer a thousand-fold change; this one answered inside a day without a single scheduled step.

The pressure gauge: e_hafeer, recipe included

The "Difficulty pressure" tile is e_hafeer, a signed [−1, +1] reading of recent block pace. +1 means blocks are running far slower than target, so difficulty pressure is easing — a tailwind for the machines already here; −1 means far faster, pressure building — the same machines are about to earn proportionally less. As of 2026-10-09 it read +0.008. The receipt is the recipe itself, served inside every API response and quoted here verbatim:

last 2016 block timestamps: g = sqrt(2 x elapsed/target), clamped to [0.542826416334146, 3.684419069923939] (the positive root of x^2+pi*x-2=0 and its Vieta partner 2/root); E=(g^2-2)/(pi*g). +1 = blocks far slower than target (difficulty pressure down), -1 = far faster (pressure up)

One display convention is ours, not the recipe's, so we state it: the tile colors the reading only beyond ±0.005 — green when E is above +0.005 (pressure easing), amber below −0.005 (pressure building), neutral in the band between. A 2,016-block lookback also means the gauge still contains pre-ramp blocks for a while after a step like this one; read it as a slow-moving instrument right now.

Merged mining and difficulty

Each chain computes its own difficulty — Litecoin in 2,016-block epochs, Dogmcoin every block. The hashrate feeding both is largely the same scrypt work, routed by parent-pool merge rosters, so when a roster adds DOGM this page shows it within minutes: blocks run fast, e_hafeer swings negative, difficulty climbs to meet the new work.

One claim we deliberately do not make: a fixed difficulty ratio between DOGM and LTC or DOGE. Dogmcoin accepts one AuxPoW chain ID at a time and rotates it yearly — 0x62 (Dogecoin's own ID) through block 6,147,999, 0x6C from block 6,148,000 — and the work behind it comes from a single visible parent tag, so any ratio would be a guess.

Why it matters for miners

Your revenue is your share of the network, so a sustained +3% rise in difficulty cuts revenue per MH/s by about 2.9% (1 − 1/1.03). On DOGM that arrives as a drift, not a cliff — and at a flat 10,000 DOGM per block, the reward side is the one fixed number on the page. Difficulty tells you the competition side of the ledger; after a thousand-fold step, the honest takeaway is that per-MH/s DOGM earnings fell by the same factor, and the Litecoin parent decision still dominates anything a kicker adds. DOGM’s rotating chain ID forces pools onto createauxblock — part of why Mining-Dutch is the only payer we verified.

FAQ

Why does Dogmcoin difficulty change every block?
Dogmcoin retargets every block (DigiShield, Dogecoin-1.14 class) — the rule its Dogecoin-lineage codebase carries. Instead of waiting out a 2,016-block epoch like Bitcoin or Litecoin, every new block triggers a recalculation against the 60-second target, damped so one lucky or unlucky block only nudges the value. The next adjustment is always about a minute away.
Why did DOGM difficulty rise a thousand-fold in a day?
Because the work pointed at the chain did. Our node's daily difficulty samples sat between 29 and 106 through 2026-10-07; block 6,243,992 on 2026-10-08 was the first past 1,000, and it settled near 52,000. DigiShield retargets every block, so it followed new merge-mined work within hours rather than waiting for a scheduled step.
Is DOGM harder to mine than LTC or DOGE?
The difficulty numbers cannot be compared: each chain's difficulty is a ratio against its own minimum, and the chains run different block targets. In practice the question dissolves, since the same scrypt machines can mine LTC and merge-mined chains at once; a pool roster chooses which kickers ride along.
What is e_hafeer?
A pressure gauge computed from recent block pace: g is derived from elapsed time versus target and E = (g² − 2) / (πg), clamped to [−1, +1] — positive means blocks are running slower than target (difficulty pressure easing), negative means faster (pressure building). The full recipe, constants included, is published in the API response at basintwo.com/api/chain/dogm.
